Eat, Pray, Love Book Review – Love it

Needless to say, I really enjoyed Eat, Pray, Love – it was like listening to someone very similar to my own sensibilities figure herself out on so many levels. The biggest connection I felt was Liz’s nervous chattering mind, I felt like I could understand what she felt in so many moments – searching for a stillness, serenity, and peace of mind. Her painstaking transition into what became such a huge triumph in India with a sudden understanding for the love in her whole heart, God, spiritual stillness, peacefulness, and strength really struck a huge cord with me. And, the author’s intricate and detailed way of telling the story was so enveloping – makes me want to travel to India and find peace of mind myself.

Virtues of Peacefulness

Codes for Living Peacefully with Others: Ahimsa (compassion for all living things), Satya (commitment to truthfulness), Asteya (do not take what is not freely given), Brahmacharya (sense control), and Aparigraha (take only what is necessary). Tracy went through each of the virtues and talked about their history and significance & as we did our poses, she posed questions to us for personal reflection.

30th Birthday in Toronto = Excellent

Bobby and I just had a great dinner at the Green Eggplant Restaurant on Queen Street East – with the Hawks game in the background. ;) Nice atmosphere, great service, great food – I highly recommend it for anyone going to the “Beach”.

Hover

Wow ~ two great art-making weekends in a row. I can hardly believe it. ;)

I’m so happy when I get to spend some time at home working on art and relaxing – something I need to make more of a priority in my life. Lets face it – our time is precious and if we don’t give a little time to ourselves, then what is the point? Happiness comes in a lot of different forms and maybe spending time alone isn’t for everybody, but for me its a blessing.

“Hover” 8 x 10 inches
( i look at this one and i see myself. i know that sounds weird, but it feels like somewhat of a reflection. )

Fashion Graffiti Creations

Spent a few hours today working on some drawings and I’m happy to say I have something to show for it.  View the rest of the images I uploaded to Flickr by clicking the image below and let me know what you think. :)

Touch Me All Over

This piece, like all of my mixed media pieces, are made on these clayboard mounted boxes and are one of a kind. This one is square (12″ x 12″ x 2″) – called, “Touch Me All Over” and the art actually wraps around the edges for a more 3D type look. The surface is covered with an acrylic sealant for added protection. It is also notched in the back for easy hanging on a nail or screw. :)

I hope this one goes to someone bold + sexy. Rawr.  Buy it now on Etsy >>

Last Night

Last night was fun…we went to Clybar with a bunch of people for Sachin’s 28th birthday party. We hung out there with everybody until about midnight and then went over to Mark’s house for my boss Andy’s birthday bash…people were wearing wigs and hula hooping on the roof and I believe I got a policeman’s hat and was wearing that around…can’t wait for the pictures (note the sarcasm << got that one from you – The Dawes). Anyway today Bobby and I are getting plans together for next weekend since our families will be in town. Yay! I think its gonna be great…I just have to figure out all the food, do a serious spring cleaning to the apartment, and figure out what/where everyone wants to go. We’ll have a full house…but it’ll be nice since we don’t often have lots of house guests.

Thought I’d include an updated picture of us, since I haven’t posted any lately. :) Hope everybody had/is having a great weekend! I’m going for a bike ride.

UPDATE: There are 485 photos floating around at work of my boss Andy’s birthday party…couple of embarrassing/funny ones of me too! …I’ll upload some later….but here’s one more for the road – bobby, rene, and me with a policeman’s hat on…haha. :)
