Quick Trip to NYC

Guess what?! I have a few minutes to tell you about my trip to New York -  the short version:  Flight was good, nice hotel, had some drinks at a neighborhood pub with Andy, Frank, & Jill (photos), got some grrrrreat food at a Landmarc resturant – best filet I’ve ever had in my life (Ding~!), more drinks, zzzzZZZZZ, little dizzy waking up at 7am, showerd in a tiny bathroom, walked down to McCall Pattern Company, had a great design meeting, got the full-on tour of all the inner workings (which was super fun and interesting), ran over to the SOL for a quick photo op, and headed back to Laguardia for a pretzel wrapped hot dog and some juice and a early flight back to Chi with Jill!  Quick trip, quick story~haha!

Rich + Heidi’s Wedding

Here’s a pic of Bobby and I dancing at Rich + Heidi Martin’s wedding about a month ago…they just got the photos back and I grabbed a screenshot of this one….there are SOOO many great pictures of the wedding…I especially love the pictures of Heidi + Rich together before the ceremony…they really look like a happy couple!

On another note – there are also some especially funny/embarrassing pictures of me and my co-workers dancing like crazy people…I’m keeping those as far away from this blog as possible. LOL.

:)

Just got home from Ohio.

Had a great long weekend…stopped in Dayton (Waynesville) to see Melinda and Adam – sorry we were 2 hours late and only had about an hour and a half to hang out! It was still fun and good to see them and check out the new house. The house is very nice – I love the kitchen and the speakers on the front porch – and the giant yard…its very peaceful and serene out there. :) The kitties were a little freaked out by the big open space of the basement and were acting crazy…course they were acting a little weird all weekend….they are very happy to be home tonight. :)

Then we continued on to Delaware to have dinner with Jess and Josh and finally got to meet Mr. Cameron…we had a really nice time and I’m so glad we got a chance to play with Cam for a bit – he is such a cutie pie – he’s happy and smiling all the time (I think he liked the kitties!) It was a great night and Jess and Josh are very good parents!

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday we spent in Findlay with the family and had a lot of fun.  We ate a LOT of yummy food, went shopping at the infamous Findlay mall, and played with my nephew Alex a lot!  I think Alex has more energy than I have ever had my whole life – we were running around the neighborhood, exploring everything along the way, jumping and stomping in rain puddles, singing and dancing.  He is awesome!  It was really good to see my clan: mom, dad, and Jen. :)

Oh and my sister and I went out Saturday night with her best friend Heather and we had a really good time…Jen will probably post pics up somewhere so that you guys can see the silly pics of us. :) So! The wild and crazy Fiocca family is doing great and living it up. I miss them already! We just got home and had pizza with Justin and Mandy.  I’m going to bed early tonight since I’ll be jogging with Jess Large in the AM tomorrow….gotta get up without hitting the snooze.  Cross your fingers for me that I can do it. :) Night!

Indycar Race – Joliet, IL

Had a big day out in Joliet with Bobby, Justin, and Mandy to see my first Indycar Race…fun was had by all and I think we’re all pretty freakin tired tonight from a big day.

I can honestly say now that you have to see this type of racing in person (even if you don’t get into it on TV)…its pretty exciting and way louder than I would have imagined.  I wish I had a picture with all four of us in it, but I didn’t get one so here’s the funniest one of the bunch with Justin and Bobby being silly and us all looking funny with our ear plugs. :) Maybe Justin got some good pics and he’ll put them on his blog.

All I can say is I’m tuckered out and ready to start my three day week tomorrow~! Woo hoo!  Can’t wait to see Melinda, Kelley, and Jess on Thursday!  :)

Night!

Septemberfest, Melissa Galitz, Smores, etc.

Shellie, Jess, Liss at the Galitz's Labor Day BBQhaha.  I know I should put a pic up with all the boys in the picture but I don’t have one and this one is the cutest one of the bunch…sorry Bobby and Juan…you know I love ya.  ….so, had a great weekend, even though Bobby and I worked a lot of hours for Stage 7 Media at Septemberfest in Schaumburg on Saturday & Monday.  Seemed to go very well for Stage 7′s first event.  But, considering all the hours we were there, I think I’ll take this coming weekend to relax and rejuvinate.  ;)

Melissa and Juan were in town (yay!) so Sunday night we picked Liss + Juan up from the Nike Human Race (that you can read about on her blog) at Soldier Field (btw congrats Liss for beating your last 10k by 12 minutes!) and headed over to Rock Bottom Brewery for some appetizers, pizza, and drinks on the rooftop deck and had fabulous weather.  Then Monday night we headed over to Lake Zurick after the fest for a nice family BBQ at Mr. Galitz’s house…we played cornhole, chatted on the back porch, grilled some burgers, and made real smores over the fire pit. (YUM!)  Large drove up and hung out which was a nice addition to the group and we all had a blast.  Liss has most of the pictures so I’m sure she’ll upload those sometime so you can checkt them out.  It was too quick and wish we could’ve had more time together like the old days, but I’ll take what I can get! :) It was great to see them!

Russell High School 10 Year Reunion – OMG I’m old! lol

Here’s a 1/3 of the panoramic pic from senior year of high school.  Wow!  I am getting old!  …that was 1998. (Go Devils!)

It might be hard to pick me out of this photo…for one I look angry as hell and two – I have way long hair and its all in my face.  So funny!  Anyway I decided I’m going – and I’m a little nervous to see everyone but at the same time really excited.  There are a lot of people I really want to see and I assume it’ll be a kick ass party with lots of drinking and catching up with people – sounds good to me.  I had to share the photo because its crazy! ha! (Thank goodness I’m not in the front row because you might have seen my cut off jean shorts.)  My sister is standing right next to me in it too!  …just got a voice mail from her saying she’s going to the reunion too. Woo hoo!

We will be driving down to Russell, KY and back in one weekend – it’s gonna be one hell of a trip.  8 hours on Saturday, 8 hours back on Sunday – hopefully Sunday we aren’t too hungover to drive. ;) Probably will be. he he.

Alright shit it’s 1:30AM and I have clients in the office all day tomorrow – what am I doing awake??!  g’night.

2 cool ladies :)

Just wanted to post this pic of my good old friends Ashlee and Aimee from high school that I miss and think about a lot. It makes me sad that we didn’t keep in touch as much as we should have (most of that being my fault)…they are both very interesting, smart, and funny women that I’m sure are making lasting impressions on the world as we know it.

I truly regret that I was either too depressed or selfish or busy or inconsiderate that I didn’t make time in my life to pick up the phone or visit more. I think we first lost touch when I started college (after my divorce) when times were just crazy and I was trying to forget about my ex and all my life’s problems – not to mention just starting all over and learning to be my own person.

Life does take twists and turns and sometimes it becomes really hard to keep up with yourself, your significant other, your work, your social life, your finances, your family and then also to keep in touch with all of your great friends. Well, here’s my virtual shout out to all my great friends that have continued to bare with me throughout the craziness of life. No matter how much I see you guys, I hope you know I love you and care about you with all my heart…and I know that next time we see each other it will be just as great as the last.

*Sigh*

Goodnight. ….zzzzzzZZZ

Eventful Weekend

Jeff KoonsFriday after work we headed up to Ravinia with Justin and Mandy on the metra – sat under a birch tree and ate some rotisserie chicken and seasoned fries, drank some beers and chatted as Hootie played in the distance. Hootie played some cover songs by REM and Oasis and then some of his own. lol. It was a good night for relaxing and people watching and talking with friends…had a really nice time.

Went to Uptown Saturday to eat Vietnamese food with B + J and also to the MCA to see Jeff Koons art exhibit (interesting as well as shocking at the same time – you should see it if you haven’t). Bobby and the S7M guys worked at our house all day and then Bobby and I went to Bridget + John’s place to BBQ. We had pork ribs, corn on the cob, caprese salad and roasted veggies. Food is always delicious at the Cooney-Gannon household. :)

Today we went to the Wicker Park Fest and ate some fun foods like brick oven pizza and steak tacos and did some people watching. Got ourselves some transit tee’s too! :) Walked around and then spent some time at home relaxing. We both have a huge week of work, yoga, volleyball, and socializing ahead of us so we needed some time off from everything. ;)

Gonna go watch Balls of Fury and get some sleep! Catch ya on Monday, ya’ll.

Kelley, you’re famous! Yay!

So as Jess and I were heading into our Bikram Yoga class tonight I realized I needed to buy some yoga shorts…figures I brought the wrong shorts in my bag this morning…so I walked over to the clothing rack to pick out a pair and guess who was all over the Danskin tags!? Kelley!

Jess and I were really excited – we tried to take a pic with Jess’s camera phone but couldn’t get a clear shot. We were pretty bummed about that, so I, being the huge dork that I am, asked the woman at the desk if she would let me have one of the tags! haha! I explained that this was our college roommate and I HAD to post it on my blog! So she cut it off of the shorts for me! She seemed very excited for us too!

AWESOME. :)

McDonald’s LATE Ride

Bobby, Shellie, and Justin at the LATE rideForgot to post this pic this past weekend because I think I was jet lagged from staying up all night to bike. Saturday the 12th was Justin Winget’s birthday and we all went over to Cafe Ba Ba Reeba for some delicious tapas and sangria. YUM!

Then at midnight Justin, Bobby, and I did the McDonald’s L.A.T.E. ride…a 25 mile bike ride that’s proceeds benefit Friends of the Parks, a 33-year-old not-for-profit parks advocacy group whose mission is to protect and improve Chicago’s parks and forest preserves in Cook County. It was fun and nice to hang out with J.Win for awhile! I’ve never done a bike race (well, this wasn’t really a race), but I look forward to doing another one like this soon….I think I’m really into biking. I might have to consider getting a new bike though – mine isn’t really a road bike…its got “off road” tires. Anyway I’m rambling…here’s a pic of Justin, Bobby, and I right after the ride at around 4:30AM. :) Fun fun!

Amy, John, + Kurt Visit

I think everybody can agree we had a great time last weekend when Amy, John, and Kurt came up to visit for July 4th! We went to see the fireworks at the Taste of Chicago on Thursday, went to North Beach and lounged around as well as stopping in to Castaways for some drinks + lunch on Friday and then hit up a Sox game in the evening.  We actually stopped by Winget’s place after the game and hung out with his family for a bit which was nice!  It’s always nice to see his parents – i love them!  Saturday I accidentally slept in and Amy grabbed breakfast with Large at Milk and Honey – YUM – so sad I missed the huevos rancheros!  Then we all got ready and Amy + John went on the architecture tour while Bobby and I got some coffee (since we’d been on that tour recently with my parents).  Then we all went to the Hancock Tower’s Signature Room Lounge for a beer and a beautiful view of the city!  We then took a cab back to Millennium Park for some pictures by the Bean and then it was a mad rush to make it to Blue Man Group on time….but we made it!!  That was an unbelievable show…if you’ve never seen it I highly recommend checking it out.  It was an action packed weekend to say the least! We had a lot of fun! Oh and on Saturday night we went to this authentic Korean resturaunt – Cho Sun Ok Korean Restaurant – that was soooo awesome and thank goodness Sang-woo was there to show us the ropes. I still haven’t seen Amy’s pictures yet but she has pics of the meal…it was so crazy – there was a grill in our table to cook the meat we ordered and there were like 100 mini dishes all around us to eat with it. Usually I am picky and wont try stuff but I guess I was in a good mood that night because I tried all kinds of new stuff and it was delicious!

Nell + Bryce’s Wedding

Hey I just realized that I didn’t post anything about Nell + Bryce’s wedding reception last weekend! How could I forget!?

The reception was held at the Swedish American Museum in Andersonville (a northern neighborhood of Chicago).  There was a really cool artist showing their work coincidentally which made for a really nice artistic atmosphere – which by the way I at first thought was Nell’s new work!   The food and wine and comapany was fantastic!  Oh and the programs were beautiful too, Nell created a custom piece of artwork for the interior that was a timeline of she/Bryce’s life together – the places they’ve been, big moments, and people they have met along the way…it was a really really really nice gift to take home with us (along with the artichokes!)  They did such an awesome job of creating books and artwork and invitations to the wedding events…it really made everything come together beautifully!  Here’s a picture of Sonia, Alex, Nell, Bryce, me + Bobby in the space.  :)  Oh and I have more pictures up on myspace + facebook!
