Bobby and I just had a great dinner at the Green Eggplant Restaurant on Queen Street East – with the Hawks game in the background. ;) Nice atmosphere, great service, great food – I highly recommend it for anyone going to the “Beach”.
Ever listen to a song about 50 times and then finally after singing loudly in your vehicle to lyrics (that you thought were the words that whole time) happen to NOT be in fact be the words? Well, that’s what happened to me on Saturday during our drive to Toronto, while listening to “Rabbit Heart” by Florence and The Machine. :)
So I was just browsing around on outblush.com, one of my favorite places to waste time looking at all the things I would love to buy online and I found a link to an etsy artist who makes hand-carved rubber stamps that can be carved to look like you and your loved one/significant other/partner in crime and I just think thats friggin adorable and crafty. Check out the lilimandrill’s shop on etsy if you are cool enough to put your illustrated face on some outgoing snail mail. ;)
Wow ~ two great art-making weekends in a row. I can hardly believe it. ;)
I’m so happy when I get to spend some time at home working on art and relaxing – something I need to make more of a priority in my life. Lets face it – our time is precious and if we don’t give a little time to ourselves, then what is the point? Happiness comes in a lot of different forms and maybe spending time alone isn’t for everybody, but for me its a blessing.

( i look at this one and i see myself. i know that sounds weird, but it feels like somewhat of a reflection. )
Spent a few hours today working on some drawings and I’m happy to say I have something to show for it. View the rest of the images I uploaded to Flickr by clicking the image below and let me know what you think. :)
Deborah Kaye Haines is coming up on her 5 year anniversary for her pancreatic + kidney transplants and her daughter Meredith (a friend of mine from high school) lovingly wanted to dedicate a piece of art to her mother and her courageous story! Congrats Deb and a big thank you goes out to her donor Patrick for his life-saving donation! It’s truly amazing that perfect strangers have the compassion and love in their hearts to give their precious organs to those in need. It’s so inspiring!
Dona la vita: Donate Life. Be an organ donor and be a hero to those in need!

Just wanted to take a minute out of this weekend before Christmas and say how happy I am with my recently delivered, hand-made, + super-cool Christmas cards from Melissa Galitz (one of my favorite and talented friends) Designs. Make sure to check out her site and store on etsy to get some of your very own!
Happy Holidays!
So, I tried as much as possible to relax and just hang out and make some art this weekend, but the wedding is 19 days away! I cannot believe it and the stress is building up like crazy – not because I should be stressed, but because I am a naturally anxiety-riddled person. I am trying to take some new vitamins called SAM-e to help me feel calm, but I’m not sure if its working or not. Hmmmm….I heard it takes almost a month to work, so I’ll probably just have to wait and see. Anyway, I just wanted to show you guys some new artwork I made over the weekend – I’m pretty stoked about it. :) Let me know which ones are your faves…
So yesterday I participated in the 15th annual BareWalls 2009 exhibit – a benefit to support the endowed BareWalls Scholarship Fund for aspiring students at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. It was a nerve-wracking/crazy/fun experience to make artwork live in front of the audience (on an 8-hour deadline), but I’m really glad I did it. I had the opportunity to meet a lot of new artists and really enjoyed the challenge. I was really timid at first, but finally met some really great people that got me out of my shell. The volunteers were also very helpful in hanging my pieces and bringing me food/water! Kudos to them!
The artwork you see here is my favorite finished piece out of all 5 I ended up completing for the show. Check out some of the other photos on flickr. Enjoy!
Some awesome artists I met at the show:
Lorna Filippini-Mulliken
Kathleen King
Carmel Anderson
Sandra Hart
Virginia O. Roeder
It’s just about that time…time for the opening - FRIDAY, JUNE 26. I’m so excited that I can hardly contain myself. This is definitely up there with one of the coolest things I’ve done in life – I can remember wanting this back when I was a kid.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m exhausted from working full time and going to the studio about 20 hours a week for the past few months…but I’ll be smiling big next Friday when everything is in place and looking good. :) Continue Reading →
Hello!
Bobby and I (and Kurty) had a great time I had this weekend with Mom + Dad Fiocca! They were literally only here for 1 day but it was really nice to see them and hang out. They stayed in a corner suite at the Dana Hotel and Spa looking down State Street with floor to ceiling windows…it was pretty cool (more pictures here). We spent the day walking around the area and eating good food. We came back to the hotel in the afternoon and watched a movie. haha. It was really fun and I’m so glad we spent time relaxing and hanging out because that’s exactly what I was hoping for. :)
The photo to the right is us standing on the bridge near our new condo building on Saturday. We took a cab over there to show my parents and they were really excited to see it. I almost forgot how excited I was 2 months ago when they pushed back our closing…but since we went back I’m super excited again. :) We are literally a week away from new closing date. WOO HOO. Lets see if we really get to close this time! ha! Continue Reading →
