Preloved.ca – Recycled, Reinvented, Sustainable Clothing

Bobby and I aren’t exactly the fashion experts, but today we learned a little bit about smart consumerism and sustainability. Not sure if you’ve ever heard of Preloved clothing line, but we hadn’t yet and now we do. ;)

Blow Me a Kiss

Blow me a kiss from across the breadth of my reflection.  I see you in there, breathing and thinking.

Designing for the Web by Mark Boulton

I just got done reading Chapter 25: Bringing it all together of an online book Designing for the Web by Mark Boulton online and realized the main reason I woke up this morning and went directly to the computer was in fact not to start reading an online book, it was to figure out what I want for myself and my future.  Fortunately this book really inspired me and helped me think through a lot of the things that were on my mind.

Typically I wont be found reading much and that’s somewhere I could hugely improve my life and learn a lot.  My favorite sections of this book were the sections about Ideas, Design Process, and Creative Briefs.  The whole book is a really concise, intelligent, and most importantly an enjoyable read! ;) Scan a couple of those sections I highlighted or buy the book for more traditional reading tendencies — in a comfy chair with your reading light.  Highly recommended!

I heart these hand-carved stamps!

So I was just browsing around on outblush.com, one of my favorite places to waste time looking at all the things I would love to buy online and I found a link to an etsy artist who makes hand-carved rubber stamps that can be carved to look like you and your loved one/significant other/partner in crime and I just think thats friggin adorable and crafty.  Check out the lilimandrill’s shop on etsy if you are cool enough to put your illustrated face on some outgoing snail mail. ;)

Hover

Wow ~ two great art-making weekends in a row. I can hardly believe it. ;)

I’m so happy when I get to spend some time at home working on art and relaxing – something I need to make more of a priority in my life. Lets face it – our time is precious and if we don’t give a little time to ourselves, then what is the point? Happiness comes in a lot of different forms and maybe spending time alone isn’t for everybody, but for me its a blessing.

Fashion Graffiti Creations

Spent a few hours today working on some drawings and I’m happy to say I have something to show for it.  View the rest of the images I uploaded to Flickr by clicking the image below and let me know what you think. :)

Orange Contemporary Brunch in Chicago

Enjoying some fabulous alone time and delicious coffee with my favorite person this cloudy and gray morning at Orange. He’s having the pancake flight that includes cakes from Barcelona, Tokyo, New York, and Paris. Wish I could get the Paris Hotcakes as a regular sized dish – they are Nutella-filled…really? Nutella-filled? Holy yum!! On top of that there are sauteed bananas – I’m jealous.  I’m going to try to out do him with chocolate chip pancakes – probably the most unhealthy choice on the menu, whoops. ;) Continue Reading →

Oh Happy Day!

I finally got the wedding pictures uploaded to my picassa site so you can all take a look now! Enjoy!

Dona la vita

Deborah Kaye Haines is coming up on her 5 year anniversary for her pancreatic + kidney transplants and her daughter Meredith (a friend of mine from high school) lovingly wanted to dedicate a piece of art to her mother and her courageous story! Congrats Deb and a big thank you goes out to her donor Patrick for his life-saving donation!  It’s truly amazing that perfect strangers have the compassion and love in their hearts to give their precious organs to those in need.  It’s so inspiring!

Dona la vita: Donate Life.  Be an organ donor and be a hero to those in need!

Touch Me All Over

This piece, like all of my mixed media pieces, are made on these clayboard mounted boxes and are one of a kind. This one is square (12″ x 12″ x 2″) – called, “Touch Me All Over” and the art actually wraps around the edges for a more 3D type look. The surface is covered with an acrylic sealant for added protection. It is also notched in the back for easy hanging on a nail or screw. :)

I hope this one goes to someone bold + sexy. Rawr.  Buy it now on Etsy >>

Happy Holidays!

8 days

8 days until I say “I do” to the only man I will be with for the rest of my life.  So generous, kind, gentle, handsome, strong, hard-working,  passionate, fun, unselfish, + smart.  8 days until I marry my soul mate – the father of my children, my partner in crime, the one that I’ll grow old and gray with – and we’ll be loving every minute of it.

I’m so excited that I feel like my heart is bursting at it’s seams.  4 years has flown by so fast!  Words cannot describe the love in my heart for this man…he is truly everything I could ever ask for and more.  Thank you Robert Argeanton for all the warmth, love, and happiness you have brought to my life – I promise to give all of that to you for the rest of my life.
