Just wanted to take a minute out of this weekend before Christmas and say how happy I am with my recently delivered, hand-made, + super-cool Christmas cards from Melissa Galitz (one of my favorite and talented friends) Designs. Make sure to check out her site and store on etsy to get some of your very own!
Happy Holidays!
Besides the fact that I wanted to write a quick post about what a nice and relaxing time Bobby and I had in Dallas….I also wanted to share with you, some pictures I took of the hotel branding from Le Meridian (where we stayed on Sunday night.) Not only was our room excellent and totally stunning, but I couldn’t help but notice the subtle touches they made with the branding, keys, hotel decor…that really brought the whole experience together.
On the bed in the master bedroom laid a felt-constructed folder to hold the dining menu, important info cards, an adorable do-not-disturb hanger, and a complimentary card with envelope to send something out for business. There were also these great little paper coasters around the room that had funny and/or inspiring quotes on them. My favorite quote in the room was the one lying underneath a water glass illuminated by a chandelier in the master bedroom. It read, “Let us have wine and women, mirth and laughter, sermons and soda water the day after.” -Lord Byron
Ok so onto our great and relaxing trip to Dallas, in which Bobby refused to make any plans (big thank you to him for that considering how awesome the weekend went!)…we got to see Melissa + Juan, Graeme + Geoff, Kris + Jessica, Jason, Jen + Melissa….not in that order or necessarily denoting couples, but you get my drift. lol. It’s just about that time…time for the opening - FRIDAY, JUNE 26. I’m so excited that I can hardly contain myself. This is definitely up there with one of the coolest things I’ve done in life – I can remember wanting this back when I was a kid.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m exhausted from working full time and going to the studio about 20 hours a week for the past few months…but I’ll be smiling big next Friday when everything is in place and looking good. :) Continue Reading →
Today Scene 360 featured my video “It’s All Under Control” from my MFA on their online magazine. Here’s what they wrote:
“Jul 01, 2008 - Posted by Scene360 Team, 360’s Video Selection: “It’s All Under Control” by Shellie Fiocca. This is an interesting video that captures the painting technique and process of the artist. The background music was certainly well chosen for the footage. You can view video on our front page or video channel.”
I am one of the “Extra Goodies” at the bottom of the page. Pretty cool. They are an online film and arts magazine. A quarterly publication, which profiles and interviews artists, web designers, filmmakers and poets with a focus on their career and analysis of the driving forces behind their work.
This PIXEL couch design from MOROSO rocks…I have no idea how you could make it work in a room unless everything else was like really simple and not cluttered…but still for any designer out there, this couch truly rocks! Found it at Smashing Magazine yesterday and meant to post it then. Its only a prototype…not for sale yet, but when it is, I bet tons of people will be grabbing it up. ;)
Bobby and I went to the Design Museum today in London…in South Bank (near the Tower Bridge) and it was so awesome…wayyy better than the Tate Modern. :)
This design work was created by Ross Phillips, head of interactive at SHOWstudio, the online fashion broadcasting company, founded by Nick Knight.
It was inspired by the fact that the human body is made up of 60% water, used a 25 section, touch screen video grid where visitors were invited to make a one-second video recording of a close-up section of their body, which was added to a constantly moving, composite video portrait.
I just got Lance Lalanne and his girlfriend Casie’s invite to their wedding March 29th and I’m so bummed we can’t go. We never got a save the date card and it was just too late of notice to get it now. :(
Bobby has to work 2 midnight-8AM shifts that weekend for a major website release at work. If we would’ve had more notice we would’ve tried to talk to Bobby’s manager about scheduling someone else for that weekend but now it’s kind of too late to do that. We were really looking forward to going too…the wedding is near Mandaville, LA which is where Bobby’s family lives…and it’s been TOO long since we’ve been down there to visit, so it would’ve been really nice to go see the family…I guess we’ll have to pick another weekend. This month will be hectic with the London trip.
Yes, I did say London. :)
Bobby’s getting sent to London for work the first week of March so I am going to fly over there the second weekend he’s there and meet up with him. I’ve never been to London so I’m REALLY excited!! We’ve been looking online for a couple weeks trying to figure out what we can do and where we can go in the short amount of time we’re there. I’m sure it’ll be awesome! I still have to book my flight though…
Oh and I never told you guys about my weekend…which really, the only thing to tell is about Sunday night, when I went with Jess Large to the Trump Tower for the Chicago Style Wedding Expo…it was sooo much fun. There was a Vera Wang runway show, lots of champagne and all the brides to be got enormous “swag bags” that were full of goodies from all the wedding vendors. But I’ve never seen one this big. Anyway my project manager Jill and her friend Amanda were there and bumped into us so we hung out with them all night and ended up at Howl at the Moon singing and dancing. haha. I’m sure I made a fool of myself, but I had a great time and it was good to see Jess. We live 5 minutes from each other but don’t see each other enough!
I guess I ought to go to bed it’s 1AM. Night night. Sleep tight.
