30th Birthday in Toronto = Excellent
First of all, thank you to everyone on facebook (and in real life via text message/phone calls) for the birthday wishes!!
Secondly, thank you Bobby for a lovely time tonight! We just had an excellent dinner at the Green Eggplant Restaurant on Queen Street East (1968 Queen Street E, Toronto, ON M4L 1H8) – with the Hawks game in the background (P.S. HAWKS WIN!!). Restaurant had a fun but chill atmosphere, great service, great food – I highly recommend it for anyone going to “The Beach”.
Unfortunately the Design Exchange exhibition (“From Mediterranean Traditional to Israeli Contemporary Design”) was sub-par. The gift shop was more exciting than the actual exhibition – JWin must’ve had better luck when he visited. Bummer.
There were definitely a few pieces that I really liked and found interesting but as a whole I wasn’t super impressed with the show. I left feeling disappointed since I had been looking forward to it all weekend. Our trip to the London Design Museum a couple years back probably got my hopes way up of something more cutting-edge.
Oh well, no need to hold a grudge – maybe it was just a not-so-thrilling exhibition…they did say they were de-installing and bringing in the new show next week. Too bad I’ll be back in Chicago by then.
Before that, Dave toured us around downtown and showed us the high points and different neighborhoods downtown as he and Bobby snapped photos out the car window (this is becoming more and more of a trend for Bobby lately. lol) We stopped for lunch at Cafe’ Diplomatico in Little Italy which was great as well – I had salami, provolone, spinach, and roasted red peppers on Focaccia bread. Yummmm. Including a couple Stella Lights. :)
Winding down now at Starbucks now with a tasty caramel macchiato.
Comfy couches.
Free WiFi.
I can’t complain. ;)
A very nice 30th birthday all around. <3 <3 <3
