Do Not Become Addicted

These animations are the result of an intimate relationship with the Wacom tablet and Flash 8…frame by frame animation…gotta love it. My inspiration was the distortion of emotion and intention that comes into play when reading and writing email.

The premise was to create reactionary interviews from unfiltered story telling – based on a set of rules. So I set up a camera and asked people to speak in stream of consciousness based on a phrase or sentence I gave them in the beginning. Then afterward I took these stories and cut the video into distorted sequences that, in the end, showcased a third-level dialogue that had never been spoken.

The animation on top of each story was my imposition on that person’s character, a way of de-facing a particular figure for a dialogue that is much more personal.  I made them my own.
